Clinical Peels

A peel revitalises the appearance of the skin, often making it smoother and more radiant. The procedure is sometimes used on other parts of the body, including the back, chest, decolletage and hands. Correctly used, these light, natural peels can give wonderful results, especially for problem skin. Light peels give very little discomfort, minimal shedding and little or no downtime.

Peels vary in type and strength depending on skin type and desired outcome. Metabolic peels not only exfoliate, they also increase hydration and correct cell dysfunction by normalising the cell, reduce pigmentation and induce collagen production. A customised course of peels is essential and will vary depending on individual goals and skin type.  Peels may be administered two to four weekly for best effect. Appropriate peels will be selected during treatment.

Peels FAQ’s

What to expect after the treatment?
There are several types of peels available. Treatments range from very gentle to medium strength. With some of the medium strength peels, there may be some slight swelling and pink looking skin.

How long will the treatment last?
Most people see a gradual and continual improvement after their first treatment. The total number of treatments varies depending on the condition of your skin. During your initial consultation, your Advanced Skin Therapist will recommend a schedule for maximum results.

Does the treatment hurt?
Once activated the peel may feel a bit prickly and will warm the skin. There may be some mild discomfort with the stronger peels. Your skin may start to feel tight. Your skin may start peeling/flaking on day 2 and may last for 7 days depending on the strength of the peel. Some of the lighter peels give little or no flaking or peeling. Ask your Advanced Skin Therapist what might be right for you

Is it safe?
Yes. Your Advanced Skin Therapist is always in the room and can deactivate the peel at any time.

How long does the procedure take?
Treatments take between 30-60 minutes depending on the type of peel. Although some of the Cosmedix peels can be used with no preparation at all, some require that you prepare your skin with special skin products for between 10-30 days before treatment.

How quickly does it work?
Your Advanced Skin Therapist will tailor a course of treatments to your skin.
