Dr Alessandra Canal – Surgeon
Born in Italy, to an Italian father and a Kiwi mother, she grew up in Auckland. Graduating from the University of Auckland School of Medicine, she then trained as a Plastic Surgeon achieving fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1999.
Alessandra underwent further training at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, England. This was followed by Breast & Hand Reconstruction Fellowships in Paris, Belgium and America in MD Anderson Houston and Nashville Tenessee.
After working back in New Zealand she returned to Britain as a specialist plastic surgeon in the National Health Service at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. There she worked in both public and private Hospitals. Returning in 2008 for family reasons she elected to work in public at Middlemore Hospital.
Alessandra has experience in a wide variety of plastic surgery procedures and her particular ares ofsubspecialization include aesthetic breast surgery, microsurgery ,breast reconstruction, hand surgery, skin cancer, general plastic surgery and aesthetic surgery.

Hi, my name is Patrichia Born and raised in South Africa, I have worked for a well‐known Pharmaceutical company who specialised in Slimming, sport and wellness supplementation in the Marketing department and the Wellness Clinic.
My family immigrated to New Zealand 9 years ago. I began my New Zealand career in the Retirement industry as the In‐house designer for Bupa, then served as Client Liaison and Medical receptionist at one of New Zealand’s top non‐surgicalcosmetic Clinics before taking the position at Auckland Plastic Surgical Centre as Practice Manager in January 2015.
Sheryl Flower – Practice Nurse (Auckland)
I am one of the Practice Nurses at Auckland Plastic Surgical Centre. I have worked with both Martin Rees and Tristan de Chalain in both the public and private sector for many years.
I have held the position of Practice Nurse for the last 11years. My role is to assist both surgeons in the rooms and in the operating theatre. One of the roles I enjoy most is to be a patient advocate and to build positive relationships with our patients. One of my goals is to provide the best care and support I can and to ensure our patients experience is a positive one. I enjoy working with the team at Rees and de Chalain and look forward to meeting and caring for you and your family.
Michelle Thompson – Registered Nurse – Remuera
Hi I am Michelle, I have enjoyed and am fortunate to have had a wide range of Nursing experience, starting my career in Opotiki Hospital in 1991.
Before moving to Auckland this year I have worked the last 5 years in the Rehabilitation Unit in Whakatane Hospital and throughout all of the wards; Medical, Surgical, Orthopaedics, Paediatric, Maternity, ICU and Emergency Department.
I Have a wide range of knowledge and Nursing skills that contribute to the holistic care I give to my patients and the respect they require.

Hello. My name is Vicky and I will be looking after you at Martin Rees satellite clinic Paramount Plastic Surgery in New Plymouth. I am a NZ trained Registered nurse with 11 years experience, having worked both in wards, operating theaters and in the community prior to working with Mr Rees.
