Temple Lift
A temple lift gently elevates the outer brow, eyes, and upper cheeks, restoring a refreshed, harmonious expression while maintaining your natural character.
Procedure Overview
The temples frame the eyes and brows, and with time, this delicate area can begin to sag, creating a downturned or heavy look around the outer eyes and cheeks. A temple lift, also called temporoplasty, restores gentle support to this region, opening the eyes and creating a naturally refreshed appearance.
A temple lift may be performed on its own, though it is often combined with complementary procedures such as a brow lift or mid-facelift for balanced, seamless results. During your consultation, we will carefully evaluate your skin quality, facial structure, and overall health, and work with you to design a rejuvenation plan that reflects your goals.
For many people, surgical lifting achieves the best foundation when complemented with non-surgical treatments. Wrinkle-relaxing injections, dermal fillers, skin resurfacing (such as laser or chemical peels), or regenerative therapies like fat grafting and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) can enhance results by improving skin quality and restoring youthful volume.
The aim is always to create a result that feels refined, natural, and uniquely yours — a gentle restoration that highlights your features without changing who you are.
What to Expect
Initial Consultation
During the consultation, Dr. de Chalain will work with you to understand not only your own concerns and goals, but also your skin quality, bone anatomy and overall health, in order to develop a facial rejuvenation plan that will achieve the best results.
Immediately After
If your incisions require dressings, you will be given instructions on caring for them immediately after your surgery, and will usually be able to remove them within 24-48 hours. Most patients can go home the same day, with clear instructions for rest, care, and follow-up.
Before Surgery
Temple lift is usually performed under general anaesthetic, so you will need to abstain from food and drink for a specified period beforehand. You will be provided with personalised instructions regarding medications, lifestyle considerations, and any preparations to optimise safety and healing. This is also the time to ensure you have support at home for the first days after surgery.
Recovery
Following surgery you are encouraged to sleep with your head in an elevated position for the first week to minimise bruising and swelling. Bruising may appear on your forehead and around your eyes, and this can be treated with hirudoid cream and camouflaged with surgery-safe mineral makeup (available in-clinic). Bruising and swelling usually dissipates within 7-10 days, although traces may persist for several weeks.
During Surgery
A temple lift is typically performed through small incisions placed discreetly within the hairline at the temples. The underlying tissues that support the outer brow and upper cheek are carefully lifted and secured in a more youthful position, creating a smoother contour around the eyes. Depending on the technique, adjustments may be made to deeper facial layers for longer-lasting results, while keeping scarring well hidden.
Post-Operative Follow-Up
You will be asked to attend our clinic on an outpatient basis to be monitored post-operatively, so that we can ensure you are healing correctly and can address any concerns you may have. Your sutures will be removed at a post-operative appointment in our clinic 7-10 days after your surgery.
